For years, enterprises have worked to connect their customer engagement and CRM platforms. They’ve built integrations to map data fields, unify routing and combine interaction controls — all in pursuit of a single goal: empowering agents to make better decisions for the customers they serve
But given the diversity of data needs across lines of business, there’s a ceiling to what desktop integrations can achieve.
Genesys and Salesforce are preparing to break through that ceiling. With Agent2Agent (A2A) orchestration coming to the Genesys Cloud™ platform and Salesforce, enterprises are on the verge of moving beyond connected systems and into something fundamentally more powerful: agentic orchestration scaled across enterprises.
Customer experience (CX) and IT leaders know this story well. You invest in leading platforms. You build connectors. You establish data syncs. And yet, when a customer calls in with a complex issue, agents are still toggling between screens, manually updating records and bridging gaps that technology was supposed to close.
The challenge isn’t that systems aren’t connected. It’s that intelligence doesn’t flow between them.
Automations that live inside one platform don’t know what’s happening in another. AI that operates on engagement data can’t act on workflow data — and vice versa. The result is a service experience that feels disjointed to customers and laborious for employees, despite significant technology investment.
A2A closes that gap by letting AI agents resolve issues directly with each other. An engagement agent that detects a frustrated customer doesn’t need to hand the case off; it can interact with the workflow agent in another platform for status, and if the blocker is something an agent is authorized to act on, like nudging a stalled approval or triggering the next step in a process, it can resolve it in the background, in real time, before the customer ever needs to repeat themselves to a person. Interactions only reach a human when the resolution requires one.
Agent2Agent orchestration enables AI agents across Genesys Cloud and Salesforce to collaborate in real time — sharing context, coordinating actions, and driving outcomes together without manual handoffs or brittle workflows.
In practice, this looks like:
Intent captured and action taken from end to end. A Genesys Cloud AI agent identifies customer intent during an interaction and initiates the appropriate next step in Salesforce — creating a case, updating an opportunity or triggering a workflow — without a human in the loop.
Salesforce intelligence flowing back into the conversation. A Salesforce AI agent evaluates CRM data, customer history, and business rules, then surfaces the right information or triggers the right action back in Genesys Cloud — in real time, mid-interaction.
A unified service thread, not a patchwork of steps. Because both agents are exchanging context continuously — not just at handoff — the customer experiences one continuous conversation instead of a series of disconnected steps. There’s no moment where the interaction pauses so a human can go check the other system, and no gap where work quietly falls through the cracks between platforms.
This is not workflow automation in the traditional sense. It’s autonomous coordination between intelligent agents — each operating within its platform of strength, collaborating across a shared contextual layer.
For enterprises already running both platforms, the reason A2A is so significant comes down to where each sits in the service journey — and the gap that currently exists between them.
Genesys operates at the moment of customer engagement: orchestrating interactions across voice, digital and AI channels; capturing intent; and managing the real-time experience. Salesforce holds the customer relationship: the history, the data, the business processes and the workflows that turn service conversations into resolved outcomes.
Most enterprises have connected these two layers at the data level. A2A can connect them at the intelligence level — so the AI working in one platform can reason with and act through the AI working in the other. That’s the shift that turns two powerful platforms into a single adaptive service system.
When A2A orchestration between Genesys and Salesforce reaches general availability, you won’t just see the impact in product demos — it will show up in how service operations actually run.
For CX leaders, we expect this will deliver:
Faster, more consistent resolution. AI agents coordinate actions across both platforms within governed guardrails: policy-defined permissions, full audit trails, and human oversight where it matters. The result is reduced handle time, less rework, and less friction when issues span multiple systems.
Higher-quality agent experiences. When AI handles the orchestration work, human agents can focus on the conversations that actually require judgment, empathy and expertise. The cognitive load of managing systems drops; the quality of customer conversations rises.
Automation that scales without complexity. A2A eliminates the need to duplicate logic across platforms or maintain brittle point-to-point integrations. Intelligent agents coordinate natively, so automation can expand without adding operational overhead.
For IT leaders, we believe this will mean:
A foundation for enterprise-wide AI strategy. A2A isn’t a feature — it’s an architectural pattern. It will establish how AI agents collaborate across your technology ecosystem, creating a reusable model that extends beyond the Genesys-Salesforce boundary.
Reduced integration debt. Instead of maintaining custom middleware to pass data between platforms, A2A will handle coordination at the agent layer — dramatically simplifying the integration landscape over time.
Confidence in production readiness. When A2A reaches General Availability, we expect it will carry the support, documentation, and reliability standards that essential enterprise operations require.
The Genesys A2A capability with Salesforce is part of a broader architectural vision: intelligent ecosystems where AI agents across platforms collaborate dynamically, context moves continuously across the customer journey, and service outcomes are orchestrated end-to-end.
This September, Genesys announced A2A interoperability with Salesforce Agentforce, part of a broader ecosystem expansion connecting AI agents across enterprise platforms — from CRM to service operations to business workflows. Salesforce extends that vision into the CRM layer, the heartbeat of customer relationships and revenue operations for most enterprises.
Together, these capabilities represent a new model for how enterprise service will work: not through systems that are integrated, but through intelligent agents that collaborate.
For Genesys and Salesforce customers, now is the time to start thinking about how A2A orchestration fits into your AI and automation strategy. Understanding the architectural patterns, aligning your CX and IT teams, and mapping your highest-friction service journeys will put you in the best position to move quickly when A2A becomes generally available.
The era of ecosystem intelligence is close. And with Genesys and Salesforce building toward A2A together, the organizations that prepare now will be the first to lead.
